An early morning shooting at an Inkster apartment complex has resulted in one fatality. According to The Detroit News, the incident, which took place in the 26000 block of Colgate Street, is currently being investigated by the Inkster Police alongside Michigan State Police. The Chief of Inkster Police, Tamika Jenkins, disclosed that the event began as a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. During the altercation, a relative of the woman intervened, ultimately pulling the trigger and fatally wounding the man.
Two people have now been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. The department has not yet released the identity of the victim or the suspects, although the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. "Based on the information available at this time, this appears to have been an isolated incident, and there is no known danger to the public," the Inkster Police Department stated, aiming to reassure the community, as reported by CBS Detroit.
Family members informed FOX 2 Detroit that the deceased was a 23-year-old man. They also mentioned an infant was present during the event; however, the baby was unharmed. The shooting was reported to have occurred around 5 a.m. at the apartment complex situated at Colgate near John Daly.
