A fatal collision has claimed the life of one individual and left three others injured in Osceola County, according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident, involving two vehicles, occurred just before 12:30 a.m. earlier this morning at the commonly transited intersection of South Poinciana Boulevard and Woodmont Boulevard in Poinciana, as reported by WFTV.
The crash involved an eastbound 2024 Kia Forte driven by a 24-year-old woman, who was reportedly at a stop sign on Woodmont Boulevard. The driver is said to have failed to yield while crossing Poinciana Boulevard, subsequently entering the direct path of a southbound 2011 Honda Accord, which resulted in a collision. The information detailing the circumstances leading to the crash was highlighted by WESH.
Following the accident, all occupants of the Kia were transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center. Tragically, a 55-year-old backseat passenger, identified as a Kissimmee resident, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The extent of the injuries was further described by FHP, which stated that the Kia’s driver and another 24-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries. Additionally, the 39-year-old male driver of the Honda was also taken to the same medical facility with minor injuries, as detailed in the statements provided to WFTV.
The aftermath of the crash led to a temporary closure of the southbound lanes of Poinciana Boulevard for several hours, but the road has since been reopened.
