As the festive season winds down, the City of Orem is offering a helping hand to residents looking to responsibly dispose of their Christmas trees. A social media post from the local government reminds citizens that there's a convenient and environmentally friendly way to get rid of their holiday greenery. "As you start undecking the halls, don't forget that the City offers FREE Christmas tree drop-off disposal services at a park near you," the City of Orem Government posted on their official Facebook page.
The city has made it easy for residents to find a drop-off location that's convenient for them, with a total of seventeen parks participating in the program. From now until the program's end, people are welcome to leave their real, unflocked trees at any designated site. A detailed list of drop-off parks includes, but is not limited to, Cherryhill Park, Hillcrest Park, and Lakeside Park. The full list of parks, along with more information on the disposal service, can be found at orem.gov/christmastree.
This tree recycling initiative is part of Orem's commitment to sustainability and provides an easy way for the community to contribute as well. Once dropped off, discarded trees are typically chipped into mulch, which can then be used for landscaping and gardening services throughout the city, thus ensuring that the trees are put back into the cycle of use. The program is a practical solution that allows for the joyful decorations of the season to give back to the Earth as they exit the holiday stage.
