A five-alarm fire broke out in a Queens neighborhood last night, consuming a two-story house and spreading to nearby homes. More than 200 firefighters responded to the blaze on 108th Street in Richmond Hill. According to ABC7NY, the fire was first reported just before 11 p.m. and was contained by 1:30 a.m., during which at least one home partially collapsed.

As firefighters worked to contain the fire, three people were reported injured, including one resident and two firefighters, all treated for minor injuries. PIX11 reported that footage from the Citizen App showed flames consuming the upper level of a house. By midnight, the fire was upgraded to a five-alarm status.

The fire left several residents without a home, with the Red Cross providing assistance to those affected. Neighbor Rowina Singh told ABC7NY, “It’s sad at this time of the year for those people because we are all like a family around here.” Seventeen adults and two children have been displaced, and the Red Cross is addressing their immediate needs.

The fire has been brought under control, but the extensive damage to the homes may prevent residents from returning immediately. The Department of Buildings is scheduled to evaluate the structural stability of the affected properties. Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze, and no official statement on its origin has been released.
