Last Wednesday night, firefighters quickly contained a blaze that had engulfed a garage housing both an electric vehicle and a hybrid in Deer Ridge. The incident, managed by Parker County Emergency Services District 1, occurred in Box 5408 on Hartley Way, a residential area that witnessed a prompt response from several fire units to avert a potential disaster. According to a social media post by the Parker County Emergency Services District 1, engines 51, 54, and 56, together with Tanker 48 and Battalion units 101 and 102, coordinated the firefighting efforts. The post included a video showing Engine 51 wielding a 2.5” attack line against a fully involved garage fire, while other firefighters tackled two vehicles inside.

While conducting a search and managing the fire within the residence, firefighters were confronted with the additional challenge of an electric vehicle's battery fire, necessitating the vehicles' removal by the firefighters. Without hesitation, they pulled both cars from the garage to put an end to the raging battery fires. "Engine 54 entered the residence to conduct search and control any fire extension into the living space," was detailed in the Parker County Emergency Services District 1' post. Despite the potential complexities due to the nature of the vehicles involved, the fire was successfully contained to the garage and the attic space above it.

Supporting the efforts were the Azle/Tarrant Co Tanker 52 and Medic 52, along with PCHD EMS Medic 71 and 820vebaraer high, standing by to provide medical support if needed. No injuries were reported thanks to the rapid culmination of efforts by the many units on the scene, which avoided escalation into a larger calamity.
