Fans of skewers, wraps and bowls in New Caney are going to have to wait a little longer. The Kebab Shop’s long-planned location at Valley Ranch Town Center is on hold after developers said the opening is stalled while building permits get squared away.
The fast-casual Mediterranean spot had been aiming for a fall debut in roughly 2,400 square feet near Market Place Drive. For now, there is still no firm opening date on the books.
Permit holdup stalls opening
A spokesperson for the center’s developer, The Signorelli Co., confirmed in an email that the project “has been delayed while building permits are finalized,” according to Community Impact. The outlet reported that the developer sent the email on Dec. 22 and has not yet provided an updated timeline.
Lease details and planned menu
The Signorelli Company first announced the lease in July, saying the San Diego-based chain would take a 2,400-square-foot unit at 21856 Market Place Drive and offer fire-grilled skewers, wraps and bowls, per a company news release from The Signorelli Company. The developer promoted the restaurant as a build-your-own Mediterranean concept designed to serve both dine-in and takeout customers at Valley Ranch Town Center.
Where it fits in Valley Ranch
The Kebab Shop’s arrival is part of a broader push to ramp up restaurant and entertainment options at Valley Ranch Town Center as the developer signs on national and regional tenants, according to local business coverage. The chain, which has 55 locations, leans heavily on bowls, wraps and skewers on its menu, per reporting from the Houston Business Journal.
Next steps
Signorelli is still working through permits for the build-out and has not released a new opening timetable, the Community Impact report noted. Neighbors eager for an official date will have to keep an eye on The Kebab Shop’s online updates and the developer’s news page as permitting and construction move forward.
