The tranquility of Petaluma's Telephone Alley was disrupted when a shopping cart fire escalated, posing a threat to an adjacent structure. According to the Petaluma Police Department's public notice, a swift response from local police and fire departments successfully contained and extinguished the fire before any major damage occurred.
Upon investigation, the source of the blaze was traced to Guy Jefferson Bridgeman, a 56-year-old individual without a fixed address, whose own encampment was caught within the fire’s path. Suffering minor burn injuries, Bridgeman was promptly treated and then detained by authorities. He was arrested and charged with arson, a serious breach of California Penal Code section 451.
The police are seeking further information regarding this incident and have urged any witnesses to come forward. Officer Clark can be reached via email at [email protected] or by calling the department's non-emergency phone number, 707-778-4372, as detailed in their notice.
