A Plainwell man died on Thursday after being struck by a vehicle while cycling in heavy fog. WWMT reported that Michigan State Police responded to the accident on 10th Street near Miller Road, where the 52-year-old cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 40-year-old man from Kalamazoo, was reportedly unharmed and cooperative with authorities. According to MLive, both the vehicle and bicycle were traveling north at the time of the collision, and the bicycle did not have lights, which may have contributed to the accident in the low-visibility conditions.

Heavy fog reportedly reduced visibility on the road that night. WHTC noted that impairment from drugs or alcohol was ruled out, and the driver could not see the bike because it lacked lights or reflectors.
