A 52-year-old Pontiac man, identified as Antonio Jason Craig, was found dead in his pickup truck last Saturday night from multiple gunshot wounds. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies, while on patrol, discovered the truck with a salt spreader stopped in the middle of the road on Karen Court near Hopkins Avenue, shortly before 7:30 p.m. Attempts at life-saving measures were unsuccessful, according to a report from CBS News Detroit.
The ensuing investigation by Sheriff's detectives led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Pontiac man, suspected of being the shooter. After deploying multiple K-9 units and a drone, authorities located the suspect as a passenger in a vehicle. He was apprehended at approximately 9:40 p.m. in the parking lot of a restaurant located at Dixie Highway and Scott Lake Road, putting an end to the two-hour-long pursuit, as reported by ClickOnDetroit. The suspect is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail, awaiting potential charges in relation to the shooting.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard commended the timely arrest, stating, "With swift, coordinated work and the full strength of our combined resources, our team was able to identify the suspect in this senseless homicide, locate him, and take him into custody."
