Police responded to the 2900 block of Northwest Nicolai Street after reports of gunfire and found Thanos-Young with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by a community member and paramedics, he died at the scene. According to the Portland Police, no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

An autopsy by the Medical Examiner concluded homicide by gunshot wound caused the victim's death. With the perpetrator still at large, local authorities have reached out to the public for assistance. 

As the investigation into Shiloh Thanos-Young’s death continues, Nicolai Street was closed between Northwest 29th and 31st avenues to preserve the crime scene.
