According to the sheriff's office statement, 41-year-old Portland resident John McKinney was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the highway.
The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and was cooperative with law enforcement's investigation. The investigative team, including the Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART), has come forward with preliminary conclusions stating impairment was not a suspected factor in the crash.
