Preston Center has a new early-morning habit, and it smells like butter. Village Baking Co., the Dallas-born boulangerie, quietly slipped into the southwest corner of the shopping complex in August, serving almond croissants, baguettes, and morning espresso to anyone hustling between errands or office meetings. The shop has been open for a few months, but its seasonal pies and bûche de Noël have suddenly turned it into a holiday pit stop for shoppers and nearby workers.
Where It Is
The Preston Center outpost is at 8411 Preston Rd., Suite 101, inside the Preston Financial Center, and it opens early to catch the commuter crowd. According to Village Baking Co., this is the bakery's fifth Dallas location, with weekday hours starting at 6:30 a.m.
Small Space, Big Pastries
The 1,050-square-foot storefront faces Kate Street and squeezes in a full pastry case, a full-service espresso bar, and a few sidewalk seats, giving it a compact, Parisian-side-street feel. Behind the scenes, the company’s bakehouse near the Dallas Design District runs 24 hours a day and turns out about 13,000 croissants a week, with the almond version holding the title of best seller. “At its heart, Village Baking Co. is about more than just great bread,” CEO Andy Wallace told People Newspapers.
What They’re Baking
The menu stretches from plain, chocolate, and almond croissants to savory options like ham-and-cheese croissants (with an optional egg) and sandwiches, including smoked turkey and bacon and a classic jambon-beurre in regular and mini sizes. Per Village Baking Co., the Preston Center shop also rolls out seasonal holiday items and offers catering for parties and office orders. Regulars can expect the bakery's signature laminated pastries, daily breads, and espresso drinks alongside grab-and-go shelves stocked with pantry staples.
How It Opened
The Preston Center location held a soft opening on August 20, followed by a grand opening later that same week, according to CultureMap Dallas. The bakery fills a storefront in the Preston Financial Center and brings a neighborhood-scale option for morning coffee runs and holiday pastry pickups.
With early opening hours and a tight but carefully edited pastry case, Village Baking Co.'s Preston Center spot is clearly angling to become part of the weekday routine and the weekend errand loop. For now, expect lines, croissant crumbs, and festive desserts to weave right into the holiday rhythm around Preston Center.
