In an age where sustainability takes center stage, a story shared by Provo City Power reminds us of the beauty found in repurposing what was once destined for the landfill. A local college student, seeing potential where others saw refuse, transformed discarded street banners into a class project whose results have garnered public attention and a nod of approval from the community's power company.
The initiative started a few months back when the student reached out to Provo City Power with the intent to somehow give new life to old banners. In a social media post, they explained, "A few months ago, a local college student reached out to see if we had any leftover street banners she could use for a class project," as per Provo City Power. It appears that student McKinley not only found a way to creatively upcycle these materials but also to showcase the pragmatic side of environmental thoughtfulness, completing a circle from utility to art.
Upon receiving images of the finished project, Provo City Power took to Facebook to share the results, "These pictures show what a little bit of ingenuity and hard work can do to some dirty old banners..." the company posted, evidently proud of the ripple effect that one individual's action can have within a community committed to sustainable practices. They further celebrated McKinley's accomplishment, noting, "Well done, McKinley!"
