The Police Department has issued an update via social media regarding the ongoing flood situation, worsened by rising levels of the Puyallup River. According to a recent post, the Puyallup Police Department has been capturing drone footage near the Milwaukee Bridge as part of its monitoring efforts. With flood warnings still in effect, residents living along the river have been advised to prepare for possible evacuation, while Public Works crews continue to monitor local infrastructure throughout the night.
Several roads under the jurisdiction have been closed due to the flooding, including N Levee Road and 4th St NE – both situated beneath the N Meridian Ave bridge. Also shut down are 11th St NW, north of River Road, and 12th Ave SE, between 25th St SE and Shaw Road – the latter located just south of where Shaw Road Elementary remains open. The Puyallup Police caution residents that these closures continue into the foreseeable future, with the Riverwalk Trail also being closed until further notice.
The impact of the flood has prompted the National Weather Service to forecast a rise in river levels the following morning. However, there is an expectation of the waters receding in the afternoon and heading into Friday. The department, underscoring the gravity of the situation, urged the community to stay updated through their social media channels and to prioritize safety while navigating the treacherous road conditions. "Stay safe and drive carefully tomorrow!" the Puyallup Police Department enunciated in their advisory.
The Puyallup Police Department will continue to provide updates on the ongoing flood situation as new information becomes available, demonstrating their commitment to keeping the public informed during this emergency. Officials urge residents to stay attentive to these communications, which are essential for personal safety and timely response to rapidly changing conditions. These updates are not merely recommendations—they are critical advisories issued by those responsible for protecting the community during challenging circumstances.
