The search for a stabbing suspect in Richland County came to an end early Thursday morning when the wanted man, Zachary Michael Zeiter, was apprehended. WKYC reports that 34-year-old Zeiter was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m. after attempting to return to his house on North McElroy Road.
Following a stabbing incident yesterday, a victim was brought to UH Samaritan Hospital in Ashland with multiple stab wounds and later airlifted to a Cleveland hospital, according to Fox8, remaining in stable condition. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office deployed deputies and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in an active search for Zeiter, identified as the suspect and warned to be "armed and dangerous."
During the search, as a precautionary measure, nearby Madison High School and Madison Junior High School were subjected to a soft lockdown, details of which were provided by Cleveland19. The lockdown has since been lifted following Zeiter's arrest.
Zeiter is currently held in the Richland County Jail on a charge of felonious assault pending arraignment. Despite the troubling circumstances that surrounded his apprehension, law enforcement officials were able to take Zeiter into custody without further incident, per the account offered by the Richland County Sheriff's Office.
