Round Rock's Play for All Park is set to expand its inclusive play areas with a new focus on educating young minds about environmental stewardship. Thanks to a substantial contribution from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation's 2025 National Neighborhood Promise® grant, children will soon have a fresh venue to learn about recycling and sustainability, according to the City of Round Rock.
The groundbreaking ceremony for this new addition, the Republic Services Sustainability Pod, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Dec. 17, and the community is invited to join the festivities. Mayor Craig Morgan, members of the Round Rock City Council, along with Republic Services and Play for All Foundation representatives, will be present to mark the occasion.
As described in a recent announcement, the park is pushing for play spaces that serve a dual purpose: fun and learning. The pod will feature a recycling truck slide that funnels into sorting lanes, which are each designed to teach children the importance of sorting, recycling, and understanding renewable energy.
Committed to serving the needs of the broader community and addressing various developmental challenges, Play for All Park incorporates elements that encourage physical, social, and cognitive growth. The park, with its diverse play structures, supports activities that range from developing gross and fine motor skills to fostering social interaction and creative exploration, as per the City of Round Rock.
