A house fire in Sacramento early Wednesday morning destroyed a home on 60th Avenue and killed the family’s dog, while a father and daughter managed to escape. Firefighters faced significant challenges due to extreme hoarding, with items blocking entry and piles reaching the ceiling.
"You can't even see the floor inside," Capt. Justin Sylvia said, describing the hazardous conditions. "Typically, in these types of conditions, we find people that cannot get out, and unfortunately, some people perish in these fires," according to KCRA.
The Sacramento Fire Department responded to a house fire that may have started from an electrical issue near the kitchen and living room. The fire did not spread to nearby homes. Crews managed the cleanup, which was extensive due to hoarding conditions. Sylvia said the house would still be "livable once the burnt items are removed," as per FOX40. Officials emphasized keeping clear escape paths in homes.
