Gustavo Cisneros has been ordered to pay $132,023.59 in restitution following his 2024 conviction for workers’ compensation insurance fraud. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office reported that the restitution hearing concluded last Wednesday, with the court requiring him to return the full amount obtained through the fraud.
Gustavo Cisneros was found to have exaggerated work-related injuries and provided misleading information during medical exams. Doctors identified discrepancies between his reported ailments and test results, prompting an investigation that led to his fraud conviction. He also used multiple Social Security numbers and birth dates in an attempt to conceal his conduct, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office reports.
According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, workers’ compensation fraud, like Cisneros’ not only causes immediate financial losses for employers but also leads to higher insurance premiums. Such fraudulent claims can divert resources away from workers who genuinely need assistance and medical care.
