A Salinas resident won $708,443 in Monday night’s Powerball drawing. The ticket, sold at a South Main Street grocery store, matched five numbers, just short of the $1.25 billion jackpot, which had no grand prize winner, according to FOX40.

The winning ticket was sold at Star Market, 1275 S. Main St. The numbers drawn were 23, 35, 59, 63, 68, and Powerball 2, according to KCRA. That night, 322,154 tickets in California won smaller prizes. Star Market will also receive a seller’s bonus for the winning ticket.

Last Saturday, a Sacramento resident won $1,975,554 in the Powerball drawing. The ticket was sold at Lichine’s Liquor & Deli.

Matt Strawn, Iowa Lottery CEO and chair of the Powerball Product Group, said, "Powerball has only seen back-to-back to billion-dollar jackpots twice, and this one has arrived just in time for the holidays," according to FOX40. Officials remind players to play responsibly.

The next Powerball drawing is approaching. Winners have 180 days to claim their prizes, so players are advised to check their numbers carefully and play responsibly.
