As the holiday season winds down, the City of San Luis is ready to give back to the earth what once adorned our living rooms with the return of its Annual Christmas Tree Drop-Off Program. From January 2 through February 13, 2026, San Luis residents have the option to responsibly discard their natural Christmas trees in an environmentally friendly way, according to an official announcement on the city's website.
The designated drop-off haven for your once-tinsel-adorned botanical is the Public Works Yard on 1311 N. 4th Avenue; they'll be accepting trees Monday through Friday, bright and early at 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., making it a convenient stop for early birds as well as those squeezing in errands during lunch breaks, the trees will find new purpose whether it be in chipping for mulch or other earth-conscious reincarnations. Residents should be mindful that all decorations, tinsel, wires, hooks, and bags must be stripped from the trees before surrendering them—only the bare natural trees will be accepted, and sorry to bearers of faux foliage, but artificial trees are a no-go at the drop-off.
For anyone needing further information or with questions on the ins and outs of the program, assistance is just a call away; the Public Works Department extends a warm line at (928) 341-8577.
