In a recent crackdown on human trafficking in San Mateo County, the South San Francisco Police Department's specialized team took significant action. The department's Human Exploitation & Apprehension Team (HEAT), working alongside other county law enforcement and the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, conducted an operation aimed at providing support to survivors and pursuing traffickers.
During the sweep that occurred last Thursday, authorities made a notable arrest, a 22-year-old convicted felon who now faces charges for pandering and weapons violations. According to a social media post by the South San Francisco Police Department, the individual was booked into the San Mateo County Jail without incident, found in possession of an unregistered firearm complete with a high-capacity magazine.
The Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC) and Rape Trauma Services joined forces with local authorities to ensure the effort not only led to arrests but also provided essential advocacy and support services to those affected by trafficking.
