San Pablo police arrested three people yesterday after responding to two separate calls about a vehicle firing shots into the air, according to the department. Officers later stopped the car, detained everyone inside, and took all three into custody.
In the San Pablo Police Department's account of the incident on Facebook, swing-shift officers first responded to two different calls about a vehicle firing rounds into the air in San Pablo. Later, graveyard officers spotted the same vehicle driving through town, pulled it over, and detained the three occupants.
The department said in its post that the detained trio matched the people seen during the reported gunfire and that officers were able to identify two of them before arresting all three. "The three stooges will have time to think about their actions at county jail," the San Pablo Police Department wrote.
How to report tips
Investigators are still working the case, and the department did not list any charges in its public update. According to the City of San Pablo contact page, anyone with information is asked to call the San Pablo Police Investigations Division at (510) 215-3150.
Context: Recent firearm-related responses
San Pablo officers have been regularly tied up with firearm-related incidents and traffic-stop arrests in recent years. That includes a June 2024 case where officers recovered unregistered weapons after what authorities described as an erratic pursuit, as reported in unregistered firearm possession, and a separate shooting near Downer Elementary that triggered a school lockdown, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The department's Facebook post, which included photos from the traffic stop, was published early Saturday, and we have embedded it above. This story will be updated if the San Pablo Police Department or the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office releases additional details.
