The Kings rallied from a five-point deficit in the final two minutes of regulation to defeat the Rockets, led by Schroder with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, DeMar DeRozan with 27 points and nine assists, Russell Westbrook with 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Keegan Murray contributing 26 points. Rockets’ stars also shined, with Kevin Durant scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds, Alperen Sengun adding 28 points, and Jabari Smith Jr. limited to 18 points, though Durant missed a potential game-winning shot at the OT buzzer.
Kings’ rookie head coach Doug Christie made a key substitution, reintroducing Malik Monk in the second half, saying, "You can't play everybody. It's just the nature of the NBA," as per Sactown Sports. Despite the win, the team faces challenges with Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and Drew Eubanks out, as they prepare for their next game against the Detroit Pistons.
