Law enforcement agencies are intensifying their search for Roy Burgess, an inmate who managed a daylight escape from the Lincoln Correctional Center yesterday. As reported by QC News, the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction has confirmed that the 42-year-old man was serving a sentence for larceny and has a known criminal history spanning nearly two decades.
The escape has stirred considerable attention in the Dallas and Gastonia areas of Gaston County, where Burgess, before the escape, believed to be in the vicinity and may be reaching out to friends or family for assistance. According to WBTV, he is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall with a beard, brown hair, and blue eyes, and weighs around 180 pounds. Visible identifiers include a "BNG" tattoo on his neck and other tattoos on his hands and arms.
Additional descriptions from the officials, as WCNC states, suggest Burgess may have sustained injuries during his escape, evident from bleeding cuts on his body that could make him more noticeable to the public. The authorities have not provided details on how Burgess managed to break free from the minimum-security facility.
Community members are instructed to dial 911 or the Lincoln Correctional Center directly at 704-735-0485 if they have seen Burgess or have any relevant tips, hoping to bring this unexpected episode to a swift conclusion.
