Authorities are searching for a man accused of pushing a 61-year-old woman onto the Green Line platform at Boston's North Station. The suspect, reportedly a homeless individual who frequents the area, pushed the woman from behind. She was not struck by a train, but her condition remains unclear, according to NewsCenter 5.
The MBTA Transit Police are investigating the assault and searching for the suspect. Eyewitness details are limited, but public safety measures were heightened. Trains at North Station were briefly held, though service has resumed. Commuters expressed relief that the victim was not seriously injured. 'I’m glad that she’s hopefully okay,' said commuter Jeremy Karpf, who travels during rush hour.
Footage captured by 7NEWS cameras showed the aftermath of the push, with the woman being placed onto a stretcher and escorted to an awaiting ambulance. She has since been admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital for evaluation. The nature of her injuries, though not critical, was not disclosed by the reporting sources.
The incident has shaken some regular transit riders, but service has continued as normal. Transit Police have not released a suspect description and continue to investigate. They are working to prevent further incidents, and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
