This designation was announced following an investigation that brought to light illegal activities such as sexual exploitation, prostitution, and unlawful alcohol sales. According to SPD's blotter release, the crackdown on Club Dollhouse culminated in the recovery of two firearms, adding a dangerous dimension to the already alarming findings. One of these guns was reportedly discovered nonchalantly placed on a couch within the club.
Chief Barnes did not mince words about the findings and the actions taken against the club. "Business owners who turn a blind eye to criminal activity and human trafficking are not welcome in Seattle," he stated. He emphasizes that the chronic nuisance declaration sends a "clear message" to business owners about the legal repercussions of enabling or ignoring criminal conduct.
The extensive probe into the Club Dollhouse's activities was a collaborative effort. It involved multiple police units, including the SPD VICE Human Trafficking unit, the Narcotics Unit, and patrol officers, the Community Response Group (CRG), and the Joint Enforcement Team (JET). These teams worked alongside the Seattle Department of Finance and Administrative Services and the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, painting a comprehensive picture of the illicit operations. The club has seven days to respond to the chronic nuisance letter and must reach an agreement with the city to mitigate the public safety hazards outlined.
