Smoothie King has quietly doubled its footprint in New Braunfels, opening a second shop on Dec. 4 along South Walnut Avenue. The new outpost plants the national chain even more firmly along the I‑35 stretch between San Antonio and Austin, catering to commuters and families who want a quick, nutrition-focused bite without a full sit-down meal.
New Walnut shop, same local owner
According to Community Impact, the latest location sits at 654 S. Walnut Ave. and is operated by local franchisee Paul Flores. The report notes that the store serves a lineup of smoothie blends and bowls, plus add-ins such as protein, fiber, and collagen aimed at customers who use smoothies as meal replacements or post-workout fuel. Flores has been steadily growing his presence in New Braunfels this year, experimenting with formats to better reach different corners of the city.
Where the first shop landed
Smoothie King’s own listings show the Walnut Avenue store joining the brand’s original New Braunfels location at 1659 State Highway 46 W, Suite 175. The company’s local pages outline ordering and pickup options and flag that hours can vary from one shop to another, so regulars may want to double-check before heading out for a last-minute blend.
More stores on the horizon
Earlier this year, Community Impact also reported that Flores was lining up additional locations, including a store at 312 FM 306 and a drive‑thru prototype near I‑35 and Walnut. “We’re also excited to cater to the 306 area,” Flores told the outlet, hinting that the franchise intends to keep tinkering with concepts to plug into different neighborhoods.
Sign of the times: local pushback
The Walnut Avenue build did not arrive without some drama. A beloved Walnut 6 theater marquee that sat near the project site briefly became a flashpoint, with residents rallying to save the vintage sign. City officials ultimately stepped in to preserve it following public outcry, mySA reported. The tussle served as a reminder that even a routine retail project can stir up strong feelings in a fast-growing town.
What smoothie fans should know
Each New Braunfels shop has its own online listing that includes hours, menu details and order-ahead options. For the latest on when the Walnut Avenue store is open and how to place pickup orders, the company’s local page for that site is available through Smoothie King.
