Early this morning, residents of a home on Cherrybank Dr in Signature II were jolted awake by the shrill warning of a smoke alarm. Solon Fire Rescue received the call at 6:40 AM and promptly responded to the scene of a house fire. According to the Solon Fire Rescue's social media update, firefighters arrived to find the second floor engulfed in flames.
The occupants, including the family dog, had attempted to tackle the fire before making their exit. All were safely outside when the crews arrived. "Solon crews made an aggressive Interior fire attack, limiting the damage to the second floor room of origin," Solon Fire Rescue reported. While the fire appears to be unintentional, it's currently under investigation to determine the cause.
Help poured in from neighboring communities in the response effort, with Solon Police, Chagrin Valley Dispatch, Orange Village Fire, Twinsburg Fire, and Aurora Fire departments providing assistance. The collaborative response ensured that the fire remained contained, with no injuries reported among the residents or the responders.
