Beyond his leadership at Here’s Help, John was one of South Florida’s most recognizable and beloved on-air personalities, known to generations of listeners from WHYI Y-100.7 and WIOD News Radio 610." The organization highlighted Kross' use of his voice and influence to foster awareness and generate funds for individuals in need, creating an undeniable footprint in the community's collective heart.

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said she was deeply saddened by the passing of John “Footy” Kross, calling him a legend whose dedication to the community was unmatched. She noted that he touched countless lives through his work, adding that Footy was widely loved for his humor, warm nature, and tireless advocacy for addiction treatment, which served as a source of hope for many. Schultz concluded by saying that his memory would be a blessing.
