Southern Nevada law enforcement agencies have created the Southern Nevada Traffic Task Force to address the rising number of traffic fatalities in the region. The initiative includes the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Nevada State Police, Henderson PD, North Las Vegas PD, Clark County School Police, and Boulder City PD.
The task force aims to reduce deaths by increasing enforcement and targeting speeding, reckless driving, DUIs, distracted driving, and pedestrian safety. "As of October 31st, we’re already at 199 across all Southern Nevada jurisdictions," showing the urgency of the effort, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
According to the Henderson Police Department on their Facebook page, "Southern Nevada law enforcement agencies are coming together with one goal in mind: safer roads for everyone." The Southern Nevada Traffic Task Force will focus on high-risk behaviors that cause traffic incidents. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department asked residents to "Slow down, buckle up, drive sober, stay alert" to help keep roads safe.
