Beneta Wallace, a 23-year-old daycare worker from a Spring daycare, has been charged with a felony for endangering a child. On Monday, she allegedly grabbed, dragged, and tossed a child, actions that court records say put the child "in imminent danger of bodily injury," as reported by Click2Houston.
A former employee from Spring, previously working at Star Kiddos Childcare Center in west Houston, is accused of dragging and throwing a 3-year-old boy, actions captured on surveillance footage showing her tossing him into an office "like a bag of trash." Police were alerted after the boy’s mother saw the video, and the center reported the incident to CPS; Wallace had worked there for about four months and listed herself as currently unemployed.
Wallace, who has a 10-month-old daughter, faced a probable cause hearing on Wednesday, where her attorney requested less restrictive bond conditions, saying, "Want to make sure she is not given any conditions that she can't be with her own biological child," as per ABC13. Hearing officer Cheryl Diggs approved a $10,000 personal recognizance bond, and Wallace was released from jail; she is scheduled for her initial court appearance on Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
