In a recent push against the persistent blight of sex trafficking within its borders, the DA's Office has teamed up with the non-profit organization Without Permission to launch the Commercial Sexual Exploitation Diversion (CSED) Program. This collaborative effort, which comes on the heels of obtaining the Proposition 47 grant, is aimed squarely at providing a lifeline to those caught in the brutal grip of sexual exploitation, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office post.
Through this initiative, victim advocates and members of Without Permission have taken on the arduous task of identifying victims of sex trafficking and connecting them to essential support and resources. District Attorney Jeff Laugero is at the forefront of this initiative, escalating the fight against exploiters and standing firm on his commitment to offering victims a chance at recovery and a path towards a hopeful future.
In an announcement disseminated via social media, the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office stated that their "victim advocates and members of Without Permission have been working diligently to identify victims and connect them with the critical resources and support they need." This message underlines the office's dedication not only to combating the trafficking itself but also to ensuring that survivors receive comprehensive support.
The program owes part of its establishment to the California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), which helped facilitate the grant for the program. The office expressed gratitude towards BSCC, Without Permission, local law enforcement partners, and their team members who, despite the many challenges they face, work relentlessly to assist victims in moving forward. However, this united front against such a complex issue is more than just administration or partnerships. It is, for many, the difference between entrapment in a cycle of abuse and the promise of a new dawn.
