Residents of Statesville have an opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee and candid conversations with local law enforcement officers tomorrow morning. The Statesville Police Department is hosting its "Coffee with a Cop" event, an initiative that's part of a nationwide effort to break down barriers between police departments and the communities they serve.
The casual meet-up is scheduled to take place tomorrow, December 16, 2025, from 8:30 am to 10:00 am at the local McDonald's located at 229 Mocksville Hwy. According to the Statesville Police Department’s social media release, the event is a chance for citizens to "meet our officers, ask questions, share concerns, or just get to know the people who serve our community - no agenda, no speeches, just friendly chat over coffee."
This outreach move comes in a climate of tension between the public and police forces in various parts of the country. "Coffee with a Cop" is seen by many as a small step toward enhancing transparency and building trust. "Building relationships starts one cup at a time - we’d love to see you there!" reads the Statesville Police Department post, at a clear attempt to communicate the department's desire for community engagement and rapport building.
Those interested in attending can find more information on the department’s social media page here.
