As Governor Jared Polis and the Office of Economic Development expressed their enthusiasm, Sterling, Colorado, is poised for a major boost. The School of Reps, LLC, a provider of sports and athletic training, has announced its joining the Rural Jump-Start Program. The move, hailed by officials, entails launching an indoor athletic training facility designed to enhance the physical prowess of northeastern Colorado's youth, as per the Colorado Governor's Office.
The facility's mission is both a nod to economic and social development. By offering AI-augmented training and a range of activities from team sports to strength conditioning, it's eyeing the transformation into a regional sports hub, filling a vacuum in Logan, Phillips, Sedgwick, and Washington counties, along with the Nebraska Panhandle. "Rural Jump-Start is supporting new businesses across Colorado, and I’m excited to welcome The School of Reps creating a new athletic training facility in Sterling," Governor Polis stated, as per the Colorado Governor's Office. The OEDIT, under Eve Lieberman's directorship, is injecting $15,000 into this venture to assist the commencement of The School of Reps' operations.
At the heart of this endeavor are personal narratives mirroring larger community aspirations. Ryan Lock, one of the co-founders of The School of Reps, emphasized the personal impetus behind the concept: "Helping coach my kids’ teams opened my eyes. We saw a need in the area for a place for kids to play, train, get good feedback, feel supported, hang out and have fun. That is what The School of Reps is all about." Anna McClary, another co-founder, also shared a similar sentiment after years of sought-after athletic infrastructure, as obtained by the Colorado Governor's Office, hoping to harness local talent and to bring resources closer to home for the region's athletes.
