Sterling Heights police shot and killed a man on Wednesday afternoon during a welfare check in the 44000 block of Apple Blossom Drive. Officials said, "the man later pointed the gun at officers, who shot the man to protect those at the home," as reported by CBS News Detroit.
Officers had communicated with the man for over an hour, attempting to get him to surrender his weapon. The Sterling Heights Fire Department provided treatment, but the man died from his injuries, according to The Detroit News.
A man was shot in Macomb County in an officer-involved incident. No one else was injured.
