The Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation and Public Library have launched the city’s first Little Free Sled Library at Delia Park, where residents can borrow sleds for winter fun and return them after use. The program will run through February 2026 or until the winter season ends, featuring 30 new sleds funded by the library and a custom sled container built by park staff, according to the City of Sterling Heights.

"The Parks and Recreation Department and the Sterling Heights Public Library are continually looking for ways to improve quality of life in Sterling Heights," the department said. The initiative combines resources and creativity to offer residents free access to winter recreation, as reported by the City of Sterling Heights.

The City of Sterling Heights has a Little Free Sled Library that lets residents borrow sleds for local hills, including Chappelle Park and Hampton Park. Public Library Director Tammy Turgeon said, "We love the idea of meeting residents where they are, whether that’s outside enjoying the snow or inside curled up with a good book." The city also has Little Free Libraries at locations like Dodge Park and Avis Park. The library is accepting sled donations, and more information is available at sterlingheights.gov.
