The Suburban Collection Showplace, a prominent event hub in Novi, Michigan, is on track for a rebranding as the Vibe Credit Union Showplace starting January 1, 2026. This move comes as the financial institution aims to align more closely with the local community they have served for decades. Known for numerous popular gatherings like the Michigan State Fair and Motor City Comic Con, the facility spans 320,000 square feet and is recognized as the second largest convention center in the state, trailing only Detroit's Huntington Place.
On December 10, WWJ Newsradio reported that the renaming signifies Vibe Credit Union's dedication to "local commitment and its belief that major public venues should carry names tied to local identity, local accountability, and local investment." This shift to a more local-centric identity for the venue is a natural step for the institution that originated with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company in 1936 and rebranded as the Oakland County Credit Union in 1953.
The credit union, serving nearly 75,000 regional members, sees this step as an extension of their mission. "Vibe Credit Union works to lead our industry in the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ Our purpose of ‘Elevating Community. Creating Opportunity’ are not just words on a wall but the guiding principle in all we do," Vibe Credit Union President & CEO Chaz Rzewnicki stated, as FOX 2 Detroit highlighted. Notably, the cooperative operates on a not-for-profit model, reinvesting profits locally to amplify their impact within the community.
Complementing Vibe's community focus is enthusiasm from the showplace's ownership. Blair Bowman Sr. voiced a collective excitement for the partnership: "We are proud to welcome Vibe Credit Union as our new naming rights partner. This partnership represents a shared vision for growth, innovation, and community connection. Together, we look forward to elevating the guest experience, expanding the positive impact we have across Southeast Michigan, and creating new opportunities that strengthen the region we serve. We’re honored to embark on this journey with Vibe," he conveyed in an interview with WXYZ. The slated rebranding is not merely a surface-level change, but a leap towards a future where a local financial institution takes on a more pronounced role in fostering community engagement and development within Southeast Michigan.
The Suburban Collection Showplace has a history of adapting to new identities. Before its current name, it was inaugurated as the Rock Financial Showplace in 2005 and later assumed its present name on January 1, 2011. As it transforms into the Vibe Credit Union Showplace, the facility is preparing to maintain its status as a key player in the regional event circuit, poised to continue attracting large-scale events and diverse crowds with an underlying message of community advancement and opportunity creation.
