Southern Californians can expect another run of sunny days and warmer temperatures, with high pressure and weak offshore flow set to remain the regional meteorological VIPs through the end of the week. According to the National Weather Service's San Diego Office, coastal areas are expected to see highs of 70 to 77 degrees on Tuesday, while inland areas, including the valleys and Orange County, can anticipate temperatures of 77 to 81 degrees.
In the meantime, residents in some areas might have to navigate through patchy dense fog during their morning commutes. As stated by the forecast discussion from the National Weather Service, locals should "be aware and plan accordingly," especially if they're traveling through known fog-prone routes, such as the 91 or 241 highways. Offshore flow is expected to intensify slightly today and will likely reduce the coverage of coastal clouds and fog starting tonight and continuing into Tuesday morning.
Looking towards the weekend, a shift is on the horizon. "The flow trends offshore again Wednesday night and Thursday before turning weakly onshore again Friday. This time, the onshore flow appears to remain for the weekend and beyond, with coastal clouds probably reaching into some valleys nights and mornings," the NWS discussion elaborates. Furthermore, zonal jet stream movements could mean rain is on the Christmas week forecast. However, "confidence is understandably low in any forecast that far out."
