In what started as a routine traffic stop on the eve of Christmas, Greenbrier Police Department officers had an unexpected turn of events. According to a social media post by the department, officers initiated a stop for an undisclosed traffic violation, which resulted in a DUI investigation. The suspect, however, chose to attempt escape on foot.
The pursuit ended when officers observed a loaded handgun fall from the suspect’s waistband, prompting them to quickly detain the individual. Investigators later determined the suspect was carrying a second loaded handgun along with a controlled substance. Authorities also confirmed the suspect was out on bond for a first-degree murder charge in Shelby County, Tennessee.
Following the apprehension, the suspect was booked into Robertson County Jail. The list of charges includes Possession of a Controlled Substance, Prohibited Possession of a Firearm (twice over), Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, Driving Under the Influence, alongside the initial Traffic Violations. These charges underline not just the actions of a single night, but the track of a dangerous individual.
"This arrest represents more than charges—it represents a dangerous individual removed from our streets," the Greenbrier Police Department noted in their statement. It is these kinds of proactive measures and alert officers that contribute to community safety, potentially averting other crimes that might have occurred had a suspect remained at large.
