A violent multi-town crime spree spanning several communities came to an abrupt halt this past Sunday when a pair of suspects were apprehended at a Pembroke gas station. The duo, linked to a series of earlier crimes in Plymouth and Kingston, finally tripped up in Duxbury just after the midday, setting the stage for their capture. Duxbury Police reported that the ordeal began with a distress call about a disturbance on Arrowhead Road. A male victim detailed a harrowing encounter with a male suspect who exited a tan sedan and, brandishing a box cutter, robbed him of personal items including an Apple Watch and a red jacket.
The suspects, Fernando Torres, 37, and Victoria Lambert, 29, were operating what turned out to be a stolen vehicle with Rhode Island plates. Duxbury officers used the victim's Find My app to track the suspects' escape route, which led to their eventual detention with the aid of Pembroke Police and MA State Police. Among the charges, Torres faces are armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and threats to commit a crime, while Lambert is being charged with as accessory after the fact—highlighting the gravity of their actions.
The successful apprehension was a result of swift coordination among local authorities, including Duxbury PD, Pembroke PD, Plymouth PD, Kingston PD, Marshfield PD, and MA State Police. The collaborative effort underscored the readiness and efficiency of law enforcement to respond to sudden, unpredictable threats that can disrupt the veneer of tranquility in our communities. With the arrest, the authorities expect to levy additional charges as the investigation spans the various jurisdictions affected by the suspects' actions.
A chilling aspect of the Duxbury incident is its occurrence near the Holly Days event—a popular local gathering. While no physical injuries were reported, the proximity to a public event serves as a stark reminder of the potential for crime to violate our communal spaces. In response, Duxbury Police have issued an advisory to residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
