Firefighters responding to a fire on Parks Bar Road near Smartsville extinguished the blaze and found a deceased person at the center. The Sheriff’s Department has classified the death as suspicious and opened an investigation. According to a social media post from the department, the fire did not involve a structure or vehicle and appeared to be confined to the individual.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined, and the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward. While the fire was reported as contained around 9:30 p.m., the individual was found deceased, and details about their identity and the circumstances remain unclear.
