In a dramatic turn of events on the shores of Lake Erie, Cleveland's emergency response teams executed a swift water rescue after an adult male took a dangerous leap off the E.9th St. Pier. According to a social media post by the Cleveland Fire Department, the harrowing incident unfolded at 4:09 pm yesterday and was promptly reported by a bystander who called 911 for help.
Collaborative efforts were crucial to the rescue, as Downtown Cleveland, Inc. members, who happened to be nearby, assisted the bystander in providing an orange rescue ring to the man, struggling in the frigid waters. Multiple units from the Cleveland Fire Department responded to the urgent call.
The technical rescue team, identified as TR1, swiftly set up a rope system and lowered a rescue diver to reach the individual. They proceeded to deploy their inflatable rescue boat, navigating the challenges posed by the lake to bring the man back to safety on solid ground.
Cleveland EMS medic unit, Medic 26, was also part of the life-saving operation, transporting the rescued male to MetroHealth. The patient was reported to be in stable condition.
