A homicide investigation is underway on Chestnut Street in Tampa following a fatal incident last night. Tampa Police reported that officers responded to an altercation between two women who were known to each other and stated that the incident does not pose an ongoing risk to the public, according to the City of Tampa.
Police reported that officers responded to the 1500 block of W. Chestnut St. shortly before 10 p.m. When they arrived, they found a woman in her mid-30s with a serious arm injury, and she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A second woman, in her early 30s, had already been taken by private vehicle to a hospital with multiple stab wounds. She later died from her injuries, according to authorities.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives collect evidence and interview witnesses to determine what led to the confrontation between the two women. Investigators are coordinating with the State Attorney’s Office to evaluate whether charges will be filed.
Police have not yet determined what caused the initial verbal dispute that escalated into violence. No charges have been announced, and all parties involved are cooperating with investigators. The case remains active and ongoing, and police stated that updates will be released as the investigation progresses and additional information becomes available.
