For those playing the dating game, choice of locale might be as crucial as a swipe right on a dating app where Tampa, Florida has recently emerged as the third-best city for singles, based on a WalletHub study. According to WFLA News Channel 8, the survey tapped into various indicators including population metrics, average costs for dining out, and access to various dating-friendly activities.

The study ranked over 182 cities using 35 key metrics and Tampa scored an overall 62.73 out of 100. Notably, the city stood out for its median household income, which WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo believes is significant in a dating context due, to the allure of financial stability in a partner. Indeed, 953 WDAE highlights that Tampa's average annual income over $73,000 ranks at a respectable 65th nationwide.

Recreational and entertainment options also garnered Tampa high marks, with WFLA noting the city's abundant social clubs, coffee shops, shopping centers, and other venues conducive to dating. These attributes helped Tampa earn the ninth spot in dating opportunities and the 12th in fun and recreation nationwide. The growth in professional populations and its coastal allure seem to contribute significantly to the city's vibrant social scene.

In addition to its economic advantages, PennLive emphasizes Tampa's demographic appeal, citing its large single population and balanced gender ratio — the 13th best in the nation. In Lupo's words, "The best cities for singles have large, gender-balanced single populations, along with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor, daytime and nighttime activities."

While Tampa shines for singles, other Floridian cities like Orlando also made the top 10, the struggle for singles is more pronounced in places like Hialeah, Florida, and Brownsville, Texas — which ranked last in the WalletHub study.
