In Tampa this Tuesday, nearly two dozen Hillsborough High School students will team up with city employees to support the Mayor's Holiday Food Basket Drive. These students are participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters School-to-Work Mentor Program and will be joining their mentors, who are city workers from various departments, to assemble food baskets, which are a staple of the city's holiday charity efforts.
The collaboration between the local high school and Big Brothers Big Sisters program isn't a fresh initiative. This marks the second year the high schoolers have lent their hands to the holiday food baskets endeavor. The City's partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters stretches back even further, showcasing a long-standing commitment to community outreach and mentorship.
According to an announcement on the Tampa government website, Mayor Jane Castor is scheduled to make an appearance at 9 A.M. to engage with the students and volunteers.
