
Tragedy struck in Burleson, Texas, when a 17-year-old male was fatally shot during what appears to be a narcotics transaction turned violent. The Burleson Police Department responded to calls at approximately 11:33 p.m. on Sunday at the Bailey Lake parking lot, where officers discovered the unresponsive teen with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a social media post from the department.
The victim was immediately tended to by officers and paramedics, but despite life-saving efforts, was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. A second teen, also 17, was found with a gunshot wound to the leg and has been receiving treatment at a different hospital. The surviving victim provided a statement indicating that the incident, which led to the rapid identification of two of the three suspects, involved a drug deal.
One of the suspects, a 17-year-old male, was apprehended in his driveway in Burleson, where officers took him into custody without incident. "The detained suspect was interviewed by detectives and provided a statement admitting involvement in the shooting," the Burleson Police shared. Subsequently, the teenager was arrested on suspicion of Capital Murder and Aggravated Robbery and is now being held at the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center.
While the name of the apprehended suspect has not been released, as the authorities are cautious to protect the integrity of their investigation, they are still on the lookout for the second identified suspect and another party yet to be identified.
