According to a statement from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), the event involved two vehicles – a 2007 Saturn Aura carrying a 16-year-old female passenger and a 17-year-old male driver, identified as Party 1, and a 2021 Jeep Wrangler, referred to as Party 2.
The response teams rushed to the scene around 8:20 p.m., finding the young occupants of the Saturn in critical condition. Despite immediate medical intervention, the Long Beach Fire Department could not ultimately save the young passenger, who succumbed to her injuries on December 24. The male driver and the Jeep's operator were both spared the same fate, with the latter reportedly uninjured and remaining on-site to cooperate fully with the ongoing inquiry into the crash.
