The Tennessee Department of Education has launched the 2024-25 State Report Card, a comprehensive online resource designed for families, educators, officials, and the general public to gauge the performance of schools and districts across the state. An array of interactive data on the department's website allows users to strategize support and funding allocations tailored to advance student success and school improvement.

Commissioner of Education, Lizzette Reynolds expressed pride in the achievements of Tennessee schools, as evidenced by their School Letter Grades. "The 2024-25 State Report Card celebrates the progress and achievements of public schools and districts across Tennessee, empowering families and communities with the knowledge to support every student’s success," Reynolds said, as reported by the Department of Education. For the scores on growth and achievement, the results show a diverse spread across the education landscape with 355 schools hauling in an overall 'A' letter grade, and 483 schools managed to score a 'B.'

The newly introduced features such as the School Letter Grades give a concise picture of individual school performances. To illustrate, 525 schools demonstrated a level 5 in Achievement, indicating high standards of student performance. The report also reflects impressive numbers in the Growth category, with 560 schools hitting a level 5 milestone. Among these, the focus on Highest Need Students has been effective, with 354 schools obtaining a level 5 in that specific category.

High schools are also in the spotlight, with 212 of them achieving a level 5 in preparing students for college and careers. Built into each school's profile is an "enhanced letter grade page," which provides parents with a clear indication of how their child’s school is faring. Additionally, a TISA calculator tool has been included to breakdown how state funding addresses student needs, and a compare tool to stack up schools and districts against each other in various metrics. The full report card's details can be explored on the State Report Card website.

With education at the forefront of Tennessee’s agenda, the department plans to update this resource annually. Giving emphasis to vital data such as state assessment achievements, graduation rates, and postsecondary readiness, it aims to create an accountable and transparent system for tracking school effectiveness. Additional information on funding expenditures and postsecondary enrollment statistics is slated for release in early 2026, promising a more detailed follow-up to this year's insights.
