
A tragic hit-and-run crash in the San Fernando Valley resulted in three fatalities on Friday night, according to CBS News. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the collision, involving three cars, took place near 9350 N. Woodman Avenue in Panorama City around 9:35 p.m. The suspect involved fled the scene following the crash.
Among the victims were two 20-year-olds, a man and a woman, who were pronounced dead at the accident site inside a Ford Mustang. The LAFD also found a 30-year-old man deceased inside a van, and another man, aged 35, trapped within the same vehicle. The latter was extricated and transported in critical condition to a local hospital. LAFD has advised motorists to seek alternate routes given an extended closure of the intersection.
The Los Angeles Police Department, along with the LAFD, Department of Transportation, and LA County Medical Examiner, are assisting on the scene. A third vehicle involved declined treatment and transport for its three occupants. The Mayor's Crisis Response Team was also dispatched to provide support to the family members of those affected by the tragedy, as indicated in a statement obtained by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Austin Turner of CBS News further reported that while the details surrounding the suspect are still unclear, the LAPD is currently involved in the investigation of this incident. No additional information regarding the suspect has been released at this stage. The community mourns the loss of lives as authorities continue to appeal for witnesses and any relevant information that could assist in capturing the individual accountable for the crash.
