Tragedy struck Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood when a fire engulfed an old apartment building on North Negley Avenue. According to WPXI, the blaze broke out in the early hours of the morning, at approximately 1:19 a.m. Fire and emergency crews arrived swiftly, finding the second floor consumed by heavy smoke. They wasted little time securing the perimeter.
Nearly in tandem with their arrival, three individuals injured in the conflagration were rushed to the hospital, their conditions as yet unclear. As per emergency dispatchers, the extent of injuries sustained by these victims continues to be uncertain.
Initial reports provided by WTAE detailed the firefighting efforts that began following the 1:30 a.m. call. In the initial confusion that fires often bring, no injuries had been reported.
